August 22 - Fall Soccer Season

Today was the first game for the Green Hunters and the Purple Ninjas!

It was our first experience with having 2 kids in soccer.  Their games were both at 10:00 and will be every single Saturday until the season ends.  Bryan watched Haze for the first half and me & Nora stayed & watched Andlie.  And then we switched at half.  (Bret & Kenzie also came to watch their games for a few minutes.)

Haze scored 1 goal!  And Andlie scored 2!  It's going to be a fun season!

Speaking of Kenzie & Bret, they have been staying at our house since last night and they're staying again tonight.  So, Andlie made a lovely little note for them for when they arrive again tonight.  Reading this note out loud totally gives her the giggles.

This afternoon we got a package from Shennie & Granny!  Yay!  The kids all got some new treasures!  Haze immediately took his new truck & bus outside to race on the driveway.

And Nora kept hugging her horsie.  She'd pull him close & say, "Hug.  Awwwwww."

Poor Daddy hasn't felt very good at all today (fever, aches, headache, chills).  We've stayed home most of the day to make sure he's okay.  But tonight, we were all stir crazy!  I took the kids to the baseball game and fireworks all by myself!

We had so much fun!  I followed their lead the entire couple hours.  We walked slowly to the game stopping to see statues and tell stories on the way.  We got cracker crumbs all over the blanket we were sitting on.  We rolled down the hill.  We ran to see the "big Owl" (mascot) without our shoes on.  We ran to the fence & back and gave the owl on the sign high five a million times.  It took us 20 minutes to get to the bathroom, go, and walk back.  We danced like nobody was watching on the way back to our seats - like flailing arms & wiggling booties - and got a lot of smiles.  We ate fruit snacks at 10:30 pm.  I threw goldfish crackers at Andlie's mouth until she finally caught one.  We played with stickers.  We cheered for the baseball team.  We saw bugs.  We told stories.  The kids took turns sitting on my lap.  We watched fireworks and made lots of loud "Ooooo" and "Ahhhh" noises.  It took us 20 minutes to walk back to our car.  We visited some more on the way there.  And it was magical for me.  It was a good reminder that when we slow down & see the world as kids do, the world is truly wonderful.  So thankful for my perfect, amazing, happy kids.  They are my biggest blessings.
