February 5 - 100th Day

Today was the 100th day of school!  Andlie brought home this gem today:
"If I was 100 years old, I would knit and watch TV."

And this, my friends, is what being up crying & screaming & throwing a tantrum at 10:30 pm to get your way looks like.  And her way was apparently standing up on her own, digging through toys, and sipping water.  She knows how to get what she wants.  I wonder where she gets that from....

February 4 - Flower Pants

I just can't get over the pants.  The crushed velvet, legging, flower-print pants.  I love them.  And her.

February 3 - Funny Story

So there I was.  Outside taking pictures of our cute kids (especially Nora's new shirt).  Turned around to go back inside and...the door was locked.  I was outside with all 3 kids.  Andlie was shoe-less.  I had no phone & no keys.  And school was starting in 10 minutes.  Cue the nervous tears from Andlie and the, "Are we gonna be late?" questions.

Sooooo, I went to the neighbor's house with all three in tow & said, "Hiiiiiiii.  Um, I need your credit card.  So I can break in to our own house."  Good thing she's a fun neighbor.  She came over with us so she could hold Nora while I busted in to our house using her credit card.  And we got back in!  Praises!

It was a pretty eventful morning, but we got some cute pictures!

Tonight, we had Andlie's Parent/Teacher Conference.  As suspected, we got a GLOWING report.  Andlie is supposed to test at a 2 on the reading/comprehension testing.  She scored well above a 4 (which is where Kindergarteners are supposed to test at the end of the year).  She is doing fantastic in math.  She is a wizz at writing.  She knows to put spaces and her penmanship is superb.  She is "always smiling and happy."  She knows when to smile & have fun and when to get to work.  Her teacher loves her.  And I can totally see why.

Here is a writing sample her teacher gave us.  It reads, "Can I have a cougar, Mom?  Please?  I would walk it every day.  I would ride on it."

February 2 - Ear Muffs

Haze and Andlie are so excited to go to Monster Jam with Grampa Puppy!  Since Christmas, Haze has been saying things like, "Monster trucks with Grampa Puppy and Andlie and Daddy will be SO COOL!" over & over & over again.  His little face lights up every time!

The ear muffs that the kids are using for when they go arrived today!  They didn't waste any time and put them right on!  And then they rested comfortably on their little heads for the rest of the afternoon.

I also got a special delivery today - these beautiful flowers from Bryan!  He walked through the door with them & said some pretty wonderful things to me and then handed me the vase.  I'm pretty blessed.

February 1 - Superbowl Sunday

Church is hard.  Haze still won't go to class without Mommy & Nora will go to any class, but she will throw her own party on the sidelines and she always ends up in the hall.  Today, I had the Nora shift.  She was having so much fun throwing the ball, walking as far as she could on her own, crawling as fast as she could to the ball, bringing it back to the couch, and repeating.  It was a good Relief Society hour.

After church, it was Superbowl time!  We ate lots of good food (pulled pork sandwiches, seven layer dip, potato salad, ranch dip & veggies, and cookie bars) and enjoyed Bryce's company!  The kids especially enjoyed the homemade seesaw that Daddy made for them!

Bryan's team lost the game in the last few seconds, so he threw his blanket on the floor & screamed at the TV.  After everything was calmed down again, Haze told Bryan, "Daddy, I'm sorry that your football team didn't win."

January 31 - Family Pictures

Mommy, Andlie, & Hazey spent some time at our beloved Riverwoods this afternoon!  As always, we had a great time!

And then we came home & got ready for family pictures!  It was a rough time for everyone, (2 timeouts, 1 "maybe you guys [Mom & Dad] should leave for a minute so we can try & calm him down," 3 bags of fruit snacks, more than 1 pep talk, 1 million bouncy balls/stuffed animals/and squeak toys, 90 minutes, 3 energetic & ambitious photographers....) but we got some great pictures!

January 30 - Crazy Hair Day

Today was Andlie's very first CrAzY hAiR dAy at school!  She (and I) loved how it turned out!

Hazey is my favorite errand-running buddy.  (Don't worry.  We were parked waiting to pick up Andlie in this pic.)

Crazy Hair Day made for a crazy hair night!

This is Nora's self-designated activity hat.  She loves that she can put it on all by herself.  She puts it on and then just carries on like nothing is happening.  I love her little personality.  She sure has a lot of it!
